A Lesson In Life

My Dear Readers,

Yesterday, while cleaning up, I came across this beautiful lesson in life and I wanted to share it with you.  I do not know who the author is because it was not posted on the clipping – but I am grateful for finding it and to the person who wrote it.  May it give you inspiration and hope, as it did for me.

A Lesson In Life

Everything happens for a reason.  Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck.  Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul.  Without these small tests, if they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere.

If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them.  For they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to who you open your heart to.

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.  Make every day count.  Appreciate every moment and take from  it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again.

Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen.  Hold your head up because you have every right to.  Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you either.

You can make of your life anything you wish.  Create your own life and then go out and live it!

Let’s begin by taking a look at what the Top 10 New Year Resolutions are:

  1. Spend more time with friends and family
  2. Get into shape
  3. Quit drinking
  4. Quit smoking
  5. Lose weight
  6. Eat healthy
  7. Get out of debt
  8. Learn something new
  9. Help others
  10. Get Organized

It appears every year that getting organized is foremost on people’s minds.  Why do you think that is?

One of the reasons I believe is because it makes people feel better and in more control of their lives.  Whenever we feel out of sorts, we look for ways to make it more manageable and getting organized is one of them.

Now this brings up some very interesting points since getting organized can encompass our personal and professional lives.  We need to be clear on what areas of our life actually need improvement so we can put our best effort to focus on it.

First we need to assess the reality of your situation and how it’s impacting your life so we can point you in the right direction.   In my new book, Blissful Organization – A Guide to Simple Living there is a Reality Quiz that I am going to provide for you below.    Answer each question with a Yes or No and then go back and rate from a 1-5 the severity of your Yes answers – 5 being the highest.

Reality Quiz

  • Are you embarrassed to have people over?
  • Do you make excuses for your mess?
  • Do you feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and stressed out?
  • Do you have difficulty “letting go?”
  • Do you think your clutter is controlling you?
  • Are you losing important items?
  • Are you repurchasing items because you lose them?
  • Do you personally feel out of control?
  • Are you shopping all the time just to feel good?
  • Are your finances out of control?
  • Do you procrastinate?
  • Are you confused and unsure where to start?
  • Are you putting off projects to the last moment?
  • Do you have a “to-do” list that keeps on growing?
  • Have you stopped filing and started piling?
  • Are you using sticky notes to remember everything?
  • Do you feel rushed for time?
  • Do you have a packed calendar?

So how do you think you did?  Do you see some patterns within yourself?

Do you want to learn more?  Are you ready to make a difference for yourself in 2011?

Then go ahead and purchase Blissful Organization – A Guide to  Simple Living and kick-off 2011 with a commitment to get organized and change your life!
