Wednesday Wellness – Tips For Clean Living

“If we look at our bodies as hosts for our sacred selves, then it only makes sense to provide them with the proper nourishment and care. One of the best ways to ensure that we keep our bodies healthy is by keeping them in an alkaline state. Having an alkaline body makes it difficult for inflammation to survive. Think of it as creating a barrier against disease and toxins that can harm us.” ~ Organically Yours

Energy Boost For The Body & Brain

What we initially feed our bodies in the morning can have an impact on our whole day. I’m sure you have heard this before, If you start the day right, you will reap the benefits. There’s no doubt in my mind that it’s very true.

Not only do you have more energy, motivation and clarity, but I found it also helps with sadness and anxiety. Now think about what would happen if you focused on doing this everyday and the long-term affects. It can play a huge factor in your overall health and minimize the risk of disease for the body & brain.

I make a green smoothie every morning, and it continues to help me feel more balanced, happy, alert and sharp. Plus I know this tonic provides me with vitamins and compounds that allow my body to heal from my health challenge.

Here is one of my recipes from my book, Organically Yours. Drink this smoothie first thing in the morning. I use all fresh ingredients and blend in my Vitamix. I’ve heard it been said that to gain the most health benefits, leave a 10-12 hour window (between dinner and breakfast) before drinking your smoothie the next day. Your cells are more receptive to nutrition and it’s better for your digestion.

Go Green smoothie ingredients:

2 Cups chopped kale
1/2 cucumber
1/2 cup spinach’1/2 cup arugula
1/2 avocado
1 green apple
1 kiwi
1-2 sprig fresh mint
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup almond milk

1. Combine all ingredients together in a blender. Blend on high until smooth.
2. If needed, consider adding more or less almond milk/water to achieve preferred consistency.
3. Don’t be afraid to experiment with less or more ingredients for acquired taste.

Enjoy!
