Are You Clutter Blind?

Are You Clutter Blind?

Did you know that clutter can cause you not to see?

Let me explain.

When you live with clutter for a long period of time, you literally become so accustomed to seeing an untidy collection of objects that you no longer “see” it.

An energetic film grows over your stuff that conditions you not to see it.

Building up an immunity to clutter is not a good thing. I repeat, it is not a good thing.

So here’s what I want you to do.

I want you to view your clutter through the eyes of a visitor.

Imagine someone coming to your home for the first time.  Now imagine them walking around and looking at all your “hot spots.”

You’ll be surprised how spaces and areas of clutter come into view that you have passed many times.

Then I want you to snap some photos of your clutter.  This is a powerful way to “see” your space with fresh eyes.

Keep looking at the photos over and over.  By doing so, this will help bring the clutter into your consciousness so you can begin to “see” it again.

With this new “sight” you’ll be able to recognize that de-cluttering your environment is necessary for your well-being and take action.

Do You Need Help?

Do you need my help?

If your answer is yes, I have great news for you.

I have a few secrets that I can share with you that I know will make a huge difference in your life.

I’m not just talking about in your environment, i.e., living or work place.  I mean your whole life.

Here’s one little secret:

The concept of wellness is understanding how well you are “being” in the world.  And if you are experiencing clutter, I can safely tell you that you are showing up in life with “stress.”

Stress is inflammatory which affects your mental well-being and can take a drastic toll on your physical health if not managed.

This is just one of the reasons why people experience a clutter rut.

I asked you before, do you need my help?

Now I am going to ask if you want my help? There’s a big difference.

One is acknowledging you do, the other is making a choice to take action.

My special offer will be ending soon. It’s an incredible opportunity to work with me at a fraction of the cost.

How To Get Out Of A Clutter Rut Fast

The one thing I hear most often from people who have clutter is that they feel like they’re in a rut.

They know they are in a clutter cycle but they don’t know how to get out of it.

They describe a certain heaviness around them, as if they’re buried beneath their stuff.

That’s why the expression, “dig yourself out of a rut” gives such an accurate description of what  people are up against with their clutter.

I explain that a rut is actually a an established habit. A pattern of behavior that becomes unproductive.

I go on to further explain that without the right support it can be very difficult to get out of a clutter rut.

The first step in breaking the clutter cycle is acknowledging that you need help and allowing yourself to receive it.

In the past I’ve shared my Secrets to Cure Clutter with great success for people who are experiencing overwhelm.  I’ve been told that it’s like opening a potion of secret powers because they finally feel relief.  It’s that potent.

Spring is right around the corner and most of you will be looking to declutter and get your surroundings in order.  It’s the perfect time to take advantage of my special offer and get a jump-start on getting organized.

Home, Sweet Home

Home, Sweet Home

Home, sweet home is an expression of delight/contentment on returning home after an absence.

Research suggests that it originated from a song from the opera Clari, or the Maid of Milan which was first performed at Covent Garden, London in 1823.

The lyrics were written by American actor and playwright John Howard Payne (1791-1852).

Popularized during the late 19th century it became an anthem for soldiers during the American Civil War.

Since my home is an actual cottage, I especially love these few lines:.

Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble there’s no place like home!
An exile from home splendor dazzles in vain;
Oh, give me my lowly thatch’d cottage again!
Home! Home! Sweet, sweet home!
There’s no place like home!

So how are you feeling about your home these days? Is your home something you refer to as home, sweet home after an absence or do you feel anxious and overwhelmed upon your return?

In a study that surveyed residents of the US and Canada on the relationship between clutter and personal well-being, the research hypothesizes that clutter might prevent people from reaping the benefits of having a home – a place commonly associated with comfort and security.
(“The Dark Side of Home” – Journal of Environmental Psychology)

One of the key findings was that:

Clutter had a negative impact on self-reported well-being and a “strong negative impact on feelings of security, safety and other positive emotional benefits derived from a sense of psychological home,” a term that refers to the concept of “home” as a “vital source of meaning, belonging, and identity.”

The one thing I know for sure is that clutter hurts. It hurts your well-being in all aspects and robs you of having a home, sweet home.

If you’re experiencing clutter and are ready to learn some powerful strategies to take back your home, you have three things you can do immediately for a better quality of life.

Stop The Insanity

Are you familiar with this quote from Einstein?

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.”

Well, I recently learned that the accurate quote, according to Quote Investigator, is…

“Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results.”

Now, I’m not here to steal Einstein’s thunder, (I actually have a “thing” for the MAN) but I found it pretty interesting that there is quite a distinction between the two quotes.

Did you happen to catch it?

Repeating the same mistakes is insanity.

NOT doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Here’s why.

If you do something over and over again, such as exercising, and you are looking for a different result with your body appearance or emotional health, how is that insane?  It’s not.  It’s logical and practical that you will see a different result.

But if you keep repeating the same mistakes, such as not opening your mail, or not doing the laundry or overspending, and expecting a different result, that’s more in line with insane thinking.  Not only will you get the same results but it will get worse.

Are you following me here?

It’s like my Mindfulness Program – there are 6 Mindful Tools that you repeat over and over until you start seeing the results of living a clutter-free life.  And it works!

Insanity would be not repeating the mindful tools and expecting them to work.  Big Mistake!

What mistakes are you making in your life that you keep repeating and looking for a different result?

If you’ve been trying to declutter your life, perhaps there are some “things” you could be doing differently to get you the REAL results you deserve.

Let’s talk about it and see what we can come up with so you can finally stop the insanity and get the results you deserve.  (I think Einstein would like that!)

Resolve To Reduce Clutter

RESOLVE TO REDUCE CLUTTER

Well, February is almost over and I know so many of you had good intentions to resolve your clutter by now.

So let me ask you this…

Why do you think you continue to struggle?

If I had to guess, I would say that you think you can go it alone.  That it won’t take that long and eventually it will all go away and get better.  Sound about right?

Let me share something that I learned from one of the top motivational and productivity coaches in the world, Brendon Burchard.  There is something that highly productive people have in common and that is they all have support.  Whether it’s a team of people or an individual coach, they all recognize that having support is paramount to their success.

It’s the reason why I designed my on-line course, Mindful Tools for Organized Living. – to give people an on-going resource of support.

Listen, whether you’re trying to figure out how to declutter and let go of your things, or organize and find homes for your stuff, there are strategies that can help you resolve your clutter much easier and faster. If you’re struggling, it’s because you’re doing it the hard way.

Perhaps it’s time for you to commit to resolving your clutter, once and for all.
