In Chapter 4, we met Max, an artistic soul whose love for beautiful objects masked deeper emotional wounds.
Today, our attention turns to Mary Beth—a perfectionist whose relentless drive led her to the brink of burnout.
Mary Beth’s Story
Mary Beth owned a bustling restaurant, pouring her heart into every recipe and detail. Over time, the pressure to maintain flawless standards wore her down. Exhausted from keeping up appearances at work, she found herself overwhelmed at home—especially with piles of paperwork that never seemed to end.
In our sessions, I acted as her “body double,” working side by side to manage the day-to-day tasks that had become unmanageable. Together, we tackled her paperwork systematically, building in accountability to prevent it from overwhelming her again. Though she faced ups and downs, Mary Beth ultimately learned that striving for progress rather than perfection was key to reclaiming her energy and peace of mind.
