Need A Boost? Start Self-Caring.

​​​Okay, so here’s the deal on motivation…

If you lost your mojo, can’t get out of your own way, procrastinating, and just can’t get it together, and you’re not self-caring at this point, don’t expect motivation to come knocking at your door.  The truth is, if you’re not self-caring, you’re not even in the game of motivation.

Lack of motivation is usually due to fatigue and stress.  So we know to combat this we must self-care.  Now, self-care is not just about taking bubble baths…(lol) it’s much deeper than that.  You can start with the regular rituals; meditation, exercise, diet and sleep – these will all help build and boost the immune system and therefore enhance Serotonin, Dopamine, etc., levels in your brain. 

Also, eating too much junk food and abusing alcohol and drugs will mess with your brain of course, so that will affect your motivation.  What you need to understand is that  motivation is neurobiological as well.

Now, another big thing is to make sure your environment is conducive to wellness.  That means, less is more.  Your living space and work space should be neat and tidy and organized –  no clutter.  Studies prove that clutter messes with your brain – i.e., gives you clutter of the mind and causes stress and overwhelm, therefore, diminishes productivity.

Now, once you’re starting to get back into the game of motivation and you’re feeling much better – the key to productivity is to have your eye on the future – meaning, you have to have a goal.  Hope for something to go after.  Without this, you will just be surviving not thriving – and we don’t want that. 

So you must begin with a Life Goal. Now that may seem contrary to what we’ve been told all these years – such as we need yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily first.  After you devise your life goal, then you start working backwards toward the other goals.  Without a life goal, you’re just skimming through life without a purpose and there’s no bigger productivity killer than that. 

So there you have it.  Remember, self-care is self-love.  Start today – it’s never too late.

Never, Never, Never Give Up!

But, I’d like to tell you something.  So please, listen up carefully.

I’ve learned a few things over the years.  And one of them is that if you really, really want something, don’t give up.  It may time extra work, extra time, extra energy, but if you feel strongly about your goal, it will be worth it in the end.

No matter how much your goals seem out of reach, never, never, never give up.

Sometimes, the key to perseverance is having the right mentor and coach to remind you of how worthy and deserving your goals are.  A good coach will support you but also challenge you.

I’m the type of person that loves a good challenge.  I’m also a coach that loves to challenge my clients.

Live a Life On PURPOSE

Living a life without purpose, no direction, no goals, is just existing.  It’s like going on a long journey without a compass.

When I see people living this way, I wonder to myself, what happened?  How did they forget about their talents, abilities, skills…their gifts?

Did you know that we all have special gifts.  Inside all of us, is a unique gift given to us.  Our job is to activate and employ our gifts.  Our gifts our also designed to be shared with others. They’re not meant to be kept to ourselves. Our gifts are meant to be expressed for the world to see just how different and unique we are.  Believe it or not, this motivates people for the common good when we do.  It also provides hope for people.

Here are some reasons why people don’t give their best in life:

They don’t know how (Lack a plan)
Feel inadequate (I can’t do this)
Guilt feelings (Living In the past)
Fear of failure (Giving Up)
Unwilling to make a commitment (Lack of responsibility)
Don’t have time (Poor management of time)
Comparing themselves to others (Worried what people think)

There are also times when we question our true purpose.  We can feel stuck and not sure of our direction.  Perhaps you are asking yourself some serious questions now. View these questions as opportunities to explore and discover new things about yourself.  Don’t be limited by your past, doubt or fear.

The world needs your special gifts, now more than ever.  Don’t waste your gifts, talents and time.  Begin today to commit to changing the way you live your life.

Change Your Ways

It’s not always easy to just “change” our ways. Especially when we have been in the habit of doing the same thing over and over. The problem is that by not changing our “ways” we end up with the same results. This can leave us feeling disappointed when we are trying to achieve a life changing goal. 

 

Something that I found instrumental when I set out to “change” something is to figure out what is required of myself to make that change happen successfully.  By asking, ‘What am I currently doing that could be interfering with the progress of change?’  (What habit, routine, or pattern is blocking me from the change I so desire?) has been very helpful in identifying the inner work that I need to do.  When I am able to see that clearly, it helps me get realistic about the change I am seeking and how to go about it.

 

The key here is to think about how to break things down into a formula so the change doesn’t feel so overwhelming.  By looking inward first, we can then begin to take the outward steps that will lead us to the course of successful change.
