How To Boost Your Mental Health

Did you notice during the last several months how many people were interested in learning new things:  How to play an instrument, how to knit, how to take up carpentry…?

Did you also take note that de-cluttering and getting organized was hands-down the top thing people were interested in doing?

There’s a good reason for that.  Learning a new skill can occupy your brain so thoroughly that it leaves little room for the rumination that can lead to anxiety and stress.

Researchers have found that learning a new skill can be a great buffer against workplace stress and day-to-day stress.  That’s why organization ranks so high – it helps us in our personal and professional lives.

Listen, there’s an art to de-cluttering and organization. Both require different skill sets. Most people don’t realize that and so in the process of trying to de-clutter and get organized they become very frustrated and overwhelmed.

In my upcoming workshop, Lessons Learned, you will learn “the language of organizing” and how to develop the skill set of de-cluttering and organizing in the correct manner.

Tell me, a workshop that helps you boost your mental health and learn a new skill in the process, what more can you ask for?  It’s a win-win to me.

See ya in class, yes?

Does Your Paperwork Need Organizing?

Do you detest all the paperwork scattered throughout your house and the energy spent looking through them?

Well, you’re not alone.

Here’s a little known fact:

“Each month, the average U.S. household receives 80 pieces of junk mail, three magazines, six catalogs and 10 credit car solicitations.  And that’s just snail mail.  When you add receipts, articles clipped from magazines, and ATM slips, it’s no wonder that piles of paper are as common in our homes as furniture (and sometimes are the furniture.)”

In other words, paperwork without organization means clutter!  Period.

That’s why it’s so important to organize all of it, including your tax documents, medical info, and even your kid’s treasured drawings.

I know how important it is to take control over paper clutter, so once a year I run a workshop on doing just that.  If you’re interested in learning how to simplify and streamline your papers, this is the workshop for you!

The class is limited to a room capacity of 10 people.  Oh, and if you register within the next 48 hours you automatically get the discount price.  But I wouldn’t wait until the last minute and chance getting locked out or paying a higher fee.

You can get all the details by clicking on the link below.  Hope to see you in class!

Do This When Things Are Falling Apart

If I didn’t have the skills to organize and keep my home in order when everything around me was a mess and falling apart, I’m not sure exactly how things would have turned out for me.

And I don’t say that lightly.

You see, many years ago, “things” were not going so well in my life. Everything, and I mean everything, was out of control. It felt as if I was on one big merry-go-round and I couldn’t stop it from going around and around.

But I knew one thing for sure – I wanted off the merry-go-round!

So I started thinking about what skills I possessed that could help make a difference in people’s lives. My mind kept asking the question; Who am I and what am I good at?

For the longest time, I had no idea the answer was right under my nose. It’s comical now when I think about it. How something so obvious is right in front of us and we never know it – until we do!

I remember feeling excited, when I figured out that my ability to “organize” and see things “orderly” was a gift that I could put to good use. But more than that, I felt empowered. Like, I got real hope that my life was about to change for the better.

I’m sharing this with you because I understand what it feels like to be stuck, uncertain, sad and all those other feelings that are wrapped around them. But I also know that my organizing skills literally saved me when everything else around me felt out of control and chaotic.

That’s why I help people, just like you, learn how to get organized. It’s also why I created Mindful Tools For Organized Living. It’s a convenient study program that you can do in the privacy of your home or office. And for a limited time, you can get the program for just $297.00 $197.00 PLUS three (3) complimentary coaching sessions.

Learning how to organize is an important step. A vital step that will help you manage through transitional times and give you peace of mind and hope for the future.

Why do you think people feel soooo much better when they’re organized? It’s really that simple.

ORDER NOW

If you’re struggling, remember this…

It’s only temporary. And in the meantime, you can find stability in de-cluttering and organizing your life. I did, and I know you can too!

Facing Your Clutter Demons

Facing your clutter demons essentially means we must be willing to let go of the past in order to embrace the life that is waiting for us.

You see, behind the clutter is a story – your story.  Sometimes that story is truly lived out and holds special memories that can be both joyful and painful.  And then there’s the story that we tell ourselves – the story we wish would have happened and never did.  Either story can keep us locked up in the past if there are unresolved issues.

To resolve the clutter and put the story to rest it takes more than just clearing out your physical space. You have to look within and deal with the events that transpired in your life that keep  you imprisoned.  Although this may feel intimidating and uncomfortable for many, it’s the first step to uncovering what’s really behind the chaos.

It’s also important to understand why you are manifesting with clutter.  To manifest means you are demonstrating outwardly a feeling.  Emotional turmoil has no other choice but to come out.   Clutter is how you are choosing to release these emotions. Until the feelings are dealt with the clutter will continue to build.

Telling yourself that you have clutter because you are lazy or engaging in any other negative self-talk does not help your situation and only causes you to feel worse about it.  So although it may be true that you may be holding onto things because you feel sentimental, guilty, insecure etc., those are just external feelings that derive from the story.  Remember that!

It takes courage to face your demons.  Give yourself a huge pat on the back and credit for recognizing this!

Once you make peace with your past, de-cluttering your physical space is much easier.  This is because you are freeing yourself from the mental clutter that keeps you in conflict about holding on to your things.

There’s a new life out there to be lived.  It’s called clutter-free living.  And it’s waiting for you!

Are You Clutter Blind?

Are You Clutter Blind?

Did you know that clutter can cause you not to see?

Let me explain.

When you live with clutter for a long period of time, you literally become so accustomed to seeing an untidy collection of objects that you no longer “see” it.

An energetic film grows over your stuff that conditions you not to see it.

Building up an immunity to clutter is not a good thing. I repeat, it is not a good thing.

So here’s what I want you to do.

I want you to view your clutter through the eyes of a visitor.

Imagine someone coming to your home for the first time.  Now imagine them walking around and looking at all your “hot spots.”

You’ll be surprised how spaces and areas of clutter come into view that you have passed many times.

Then I want you to snap some photos of your clutter.  This is a powerful way to “see” your space with fresh eyes.

Keep looking at the photos over and over.  By doing so, this will help bring the clutter into your consciousness so you can begin to “see” it again.

With this new “sight” you’ll be able to recognize that de-cluttering your environment is necessary for your well-being and take action.
