Simplicity Is A Sign Of Growth

“Going Back To A Simpler Life Is Not A Step Backward” – Yvon Chouinard

The implication of this quote is that achieving a simpler life is not  a reflection of failure because you are releasing your stuff.  In fact, letting go is a sign of growth and can help balance out your body, mind & environment.  How so you may ask?   Because making the choice to “let go” allows you to move forward with life.  This is a healthy decision.  The process then of letting go improves your overall wellness.

It takes courage to simplify one’s life and be free of things you may have considered important or special at one time.  Recognizing that your things may no longer be serving you (and can actually be holding you back from living life to the fullest) is a true sign of personal growth. There’s a lot to be said about a person who can relinquish the old and welcome the new – even if they aren’t sure what that may look like.

I see way too often people who struggle with the notion that “letting go” is somehow a sign of weakness. This can be to their detriment as it propels them into a chronic state of fear because they feel as if they are “losing” or “giving up” something. But you see there is no loss with simplicity. Simplicity offers freedom of all that was but no longer is. So how can one lose when one becomes free? You simply cannot.

The process of purging one’s life is powerful. A process fully embellished with tender moments of self-discovery. It’s as if you get to experience your very own internal treasure hunt.  Tell me, what’s more beautiful than that?

If you are looking for ways to simplify and balance out your life, my book Organically Yours will be a great read for you.

Grief, Deep Grief, Can Make Decluttering Painful.

Sometimes during the process of decluttering we can unearth unexpected memories, which can be very emotional.  Old photographs, music and art can trigger an old memory of trauma like a romantic break-up or divorce, a loss of a career, an empty nest or the loss of a loved one.

Grief, deep grief, can make the decluttering process especially painful.  Sometimes a grieving person will choose to declutter ruthlessly in an attempt to remove the pain caused by the loss. Better to have empty room than to face a constant reminder of what I lost.

Mentally, they decide that it would be preferable to have it done, in a sort of ’emotional amputation.’  For others, they are simply not ready.  When they try to get rid of something that belongs to the loved one, it is like that person is dying all over again.  If you are grieving, please be compassionate with yourself.

HOW ARE YOU SPENDING YOUR TIME?

HOW ARE YOU SPENDING YOUR TIME?

You spend your time wisely if you spend your time organizing!

The time you invest in getting yourself organized will give you a substantial return on your investment.  For example, you can locate your important items at a moment’s notice, because you now know where everything is.  You will save time and peace of mind by establishing a home  for your belongings, rather than frantically searching for your stuff and getting all stressed out.  It’s not a particularly warm and fuzzy feeling when you’re racing against the clock trying to find something that is lost in space.  So to quote dear Ben Franklin, “For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned.” ~ Amen

WHY HAVING A PLAN IS HEALTHY!

Why Having A Plan Is Healthy!

Did you know one of the reasons why a person’s environment gets cluttered is because they never learned certain life skills?

For example:

  • How does someone make a bed in the morning?
How is dirty laundry taken care of?
What is the right way to clean up after a meal?
How is a bathroom kept clean and fresh?

The good news is that these are all teachable skill sets. However, without these skills set in an organized system, the individual is left to “make it up as they go along,”usually making things more complicated than necessary and causing undue stress.

This is exactly the reason why having a plan is healthy. Can you see how following an organized system can help you have a fresh, clean environment? Not to mention how much time you will save and the peace of mind it will provide.

If you would like to learn my proven strategies to living an organized life, you should grab a copy of my new book, Organically Yours; Open Yourself To A Vibrant Healthy Life Through Clean Living.

Does Your Home Feel Inviting To Guests?

Does your home feel inviting to guests? A fresh, free environment says to me, ‘Welcome to our home…come on in and sit a spell.’

Having a home where we can easily find our things, that is aesthetically pleasing and we feel proud to live in, does wonders for our well-being.

It’s not about having a perfect home (there’s no such thing). It is however about bringing out the best in ourselves so we live freely and comfortably in our dwelling. Doing our best to create a neat and tidy environment is clean, healthy living at its best. Add green plants, organic natural products and air purifiers and- well, maybe ‘perfect’ isn’t that far out of reach.

It has been proven that a messy, disorganized home creates mental stress. This puts additional stress on our body. When our home is functional, it makes it much easier to keep our mind in a positive place. Staying in a healthy mindset helps us carve out the time to nourish our body and get proper rest.

Did this post intrigue you?  To learn more about how you can have a fresh, free environment grab a copy of my new book, Organically Yours: Open Yourself To A Vibrant Healthy Life Through Clean Living.  For only $1.00 plus S&H you can get it delivered straight to your home and begin decluttering right away.

How Cluttered Is Your Brain?

A cluttered brain can be filled with many things, ranging from all the things that are on your ‘to do’ list to worrying about how you will be able to complete everything successfully. One area that can predominately clutter up our brain is the constant banter we have with ourselves – our internal dialogue. This private conversation can influence our brains to have negative attitudes and thus, negative outcomes if we feed it negative thoughts.

Take Tammy for instance. She couldn’t understand why her sister’s life was filled with happy, positive things while her life was always a struggle. Her thoughts were, “Nothing good ever happens to me. Why do good things happen to my sis, while I always get the short end of the stick? It just isn’t fair!”

It wasn’t until Tammy started to realize that her sister always has a positive attitude.  It doesn’t seem to matter what happens, her sister handles most everything with ease and looks for the good in all situations.

Maybe it’s time Tammy finds out more about healthy thinking. It certainly couldn’t hurt…

Can you identify with Tammy? Or do you fall more into the category of her sister’s mindset? There were certain things that led up to Tammy’s aha moment that helped her transform her thinking. Would you like to learn how she did it? Then, you should grab a copy of my new book, Organically Yours; Open Yourself to a Healthy Vibrant Life Through Clean Living. IS DECLUTTERING GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH?

There’s a certain connotation the word declutter brings to mind – don’t you think? For me it evokes a feeling of freedom. I personally don’t operate well when I have clutter around me. So anything I can do to get myself on track quickly helps not just with my immediate surroundings, but it makes my mind clearer and focused. My attitude starts to shift and I feel more energy.  Here are three good reasons why decluttering is a healthy choice.

3 Reasons Why Decluttering Is Healthy:

1. You Can Decrease Stress; not having clutter around reduces your worry and anxiety. Next time your have unannounced guests, you don’t have to fret and scramble to hide things before letting them in. Just knowing your place is environmentally friendly is a load off the old noggin.

2. You Can Breathe Easier; regular household dust is enough to deal with. But excessive clutter may contain mold, and other toxins that can complicate health issues further, especially if you have asthma or other breathing problems.

3. You Can Clear Your Mind; did you know that clutter can actually interfere with your brain’s ability to process information. Think about it. Clutter is akin to chaos. Studies have proven that chaos restricts our ability to focus. When we are in a a clutter-free space we experience more energy and productivity.

Did you find the above information helpful? If so, you will enjoy my new book,
