Facing Your Clutter Demons

Facing your clutter demons essentially means we must be willing to let go of the past in order to embrace the life that is waiting for us.

You see, behind the clutter is a story – your story.  Sometimes that story is truly lived out and holds special memories that can be both joyful and painful.  And then there’s the story that we tell ourselves – the story we wish would have happened and never did.  Either story can keep us locked up in the past if there are unresolved issues.

To resolve the clutter and put the story to rest it takes more than just clearing out your physical space. You have to look within and deal with the events that transpired in your life that keep  you imprisoned.  Although this may feel intimidating and uncomfortable for many, it’s the first step to uncovering what’s really behind the chaos.

It’s also important to understand why you are manifesting with clutter.  To manifest means you are demonstrating outwardly a feeling.  Emotional turmoil has no other choice but to come out.   Clutter is how you are choosing to release these emotions. Until the feelings are dealt with the clutter will continue to build.

Telling yourself that you have clutter because you are lazy or engaging in any other negative self-talk does not help your situation and only causes you to feel worse about it.  So although it may be true that you may be holding onto things because you feel sentimental, guilty, insecure etc., those are just external feelings that derive from the story.  Remember that!

It takes courage to face your demons.  Give yourself a huge pat on the back and credit for recognizing this!

Once you make peace with your past, de-cluttering your physical space is much easier.  This is because you are freeing yourself from the mental clutter that keeps you in conflict about holding on to your things.

There’s a new life out there to be lived.  It’s called clutter-free living.  And it’s waiting for you!

Do You Have A Spring In Your Step?

Do You Have A Spring In Your Step?

Happy Monday to you!

I’m curious about something…

Do you get a little spring in your step as you greet the day?

If you do, that’s great!  If not, why do you think that is?

Meeting the day with energy and confidence is a sign that you are feeling happy.  There’s usually something to look forward to.

When I fill out my High Performance Planner for the day, it asks me, What’s One Thing I Can Get Excited About Today? By answering this question, it helps me take the focus off anything negative and refocus my attention to something positive. It works like a charm.

I’m going to be talking about how to tap into a positive mindset in my upcoming class Clutter & Beyond; how to break the cycle of clutter and recharge your life with purpose and passion.

Why don’t you join me?  It’s FREE. You can grab your seat here.

Why I Don’t Mess Around With Clutter

If you don’t know this yet about me, I do something very well.

I help women de-clutter their lives.  It’s pretty much that in a nut shell.

The fact is, clutter is messy.  And when you’re all cluttered up you need help.  And not just any help.  You need an expert.

Now, you may want to know all the little juicy details about me if you’re unfamiliar, but I can assure you, if you’re feeling like your mind is about to implode and your manifesting outwardly with clutter, what you really need is someone to help you turn your life around quickly.

I have enough knowledge and experience to tell you that if you ignore your clutter there will be a pretty price to pay.  That’s why I don’t mess around when it comes to getting you clutter-free. That’s why you want me as your Clutter Coach.

I’m going to be teaching a new course.  If you have clutter, it might be a really good idea you attend.  It’s called Clutter & Beyond; how to break the cycle of clutter and recharge your life with purpose and passion.

The Real Reason People Crave Organization

The Real Reason People Crave Organization

During one of my workshops, I asked the students to write down the reasons why it is so important for them to be organized.

Most of the answers were the same…

  • I want to be able to find my things
  • I don’t want to be late for appointments
  • I would like to have guests over to entertain

Then I asked them to write down the reasons why it is so important for them to find their things, not be late for appointments and have guests over.

And then something interesting happened…

Just about every student sat there with a vacant look on their face, similar to a deer in headlights stare.

You see, on the surface, people can generally express why they want to be organized, but when you ask them to get in touch with it on a deeper level, they find it rather difficult to articulate their feelings.

The truth of the matter is, people want to be more organized because they crave something much deeper.  More meaningful.

The challenge is getting them to unleash the frustration, overwhelm and stress they have suppressed from playing hide-and-seek and cringing from embarrassment because they missed a deadline, showed up late or have to tell another fib about why they can’t have company over.

I have found in my 20+ some years of being in practice, that until a person can get in touch with the root cause of their clutter the cycle will continue.  It is the reason why I created Coaching Through The Clutter; Mindful Tools for Organized Living.  It is a coaching program that helps people not just release their clutter but also become more consciously aware so they can begin to make healthier choices in their life.

If you would like to learn more about this coaching program and how it can serve you, then I would love to connect with you.  Simply click HERE to schedule a FREE call with me.

Lifestyle Changes That Move You To Be A Better Person

When I had my health scare, I remember two questions that weighed heavy on my mind:

1.  What is the root cause of my health problem?

2.  How can I heal myself naturally?

Those two questions led me on a wellness journey which prompted me to write my book, Organically Yours; Open Yourself to a Vibrant Healthy Life Through Clean Living.

Since then, I’ve made significant lifestyle changes – all for the better.

And I continue to seek out wellness information that makes sense for me.

I believe that any lifestyle change has to speak to you…move you to want to live better.

If you’re interested, I will be hosting a FREE Webinar where I’ll be sharing some of these lifestyle changes.

You can register for it here:

CLUTTER; The Great Imposter

CLUTTER

The Great Imposter

When Mary first contacted me, she told me she was feeling a lack of motivation and extremely overwhelmed due to her excessive clutter.  She was concerned that the clutter was getting out of control and it was making her feel anxious on top of everything else.

I explained to her that clutter is just an outward  manifestation of what a person is feeling.  The clutter can intensify these feelings, but the clutter is not the cause of her lack of motivation and overwhelm.

It’s not unusual for a person to think that their clutter is the cause of their emotional upheaval.

For example:  The clutter simply mirrors back what you are feeling about yourself.  So when Mary says the clutter is making her feel overwhelmed and unmotivated, what she’s really saying is that she’s feeling that way.

The way to overcome Mary’s clutter is to take a deeper look at what is causing her to feel this way.  By doing so, she will eventually get to the underlying reason (root cause) of her physical clutter.

This is a very important step in the process of healing oneself of clutter.  If you just try to “clean-up” the clutter without addressing the root cause, the clutter will come back.  This is why we call it the cycle of clutter.

Usually the clutter gets stronger with each cycle.

Although this can at first feel uneasy, I assured Mary that by showing up and facing her fears, it would lead her to a better understanding of what’s driving her to outwardly manifest. With this new understanding she would be able to gain a fresh perspective and learn how to deal with her emotions in a more positive, healthier way.

Clutter has many faces and can deceive a person into thinking many things – it’s why I refer to it as the Great Imposter.  But don’t be fooled.  Your clutter is just you, trying to get your attention.

If you’re looking for more information on how to resolve your clutter, I suggest you begin with my on-line mindfulness program that will take you through all the steps necessary to living a clutter-free life.

You can get that program HERE!

Stop The Insanity

Are you familiar with this quote from Einstein?

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.”

Well, I recently learned that the accurate quote, according to Quote Investigator, is…

“Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results.”

Now, I’m not here to steal Einstein’s thunder, (I actually have a “thing” for the MAN) but I found it pretty interesting that there is quite a distinction between the two quotes.

Did you happen to catch it?

Repeating the same mistakes is insanity.

NOT doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Here’s why.

If you do something over and over again, such as exercising, and you are looking for a different result with your body appearance or emotional health, how is that insane?  It’s not.  It’s logical and practical that you will see a different result.

But if you keep repeating the same mistakes, such as not opening your mail, or not doing the laundry or overspending, and expecting a different result, that’s more in line with insane thinking.  Not only will you get the same results but it will get worse.

Are you following me here?

It’s like my Mindfulness Program – there are 6 Mindful Tools that you repeat over and over until you start seeing the results of living a clutter-free life.  And it works!

Insanity would be not repeating the mindful tools and expecting them to work.  Big Mistake!

What mistakes are you making in your life that you keep repeating and looking for a different result?

If you’ve been trying to declutter your life, perhaps there are some “things” you could be doing differently to get you the REAL results you deserve.

Let’s talk about it and see what we can come up with so you can finally stop the insanity and get the results you deserve.  (I think Einstein would like that!)

Resolve To Reduce Clutter

RESOLVE TO REDUCE CLUTTER

Well, February is almost over and I know so many of you had good intentions to resolve your clutter by now.

So let me ask you this…

Why do you think you continue to struggle?

If I had to guess, I would say that you think you can go it alone.  That it won’t take that long and eventually it will all go away and get better.  Sound about right?

Let me share something that I learned from one of the top motivational and productivity coaches in the world, Brendon Burchard.  There is something that highly productive people have in common and that is they all have support.  Whether it’s a team of people or an individual coach, they all recognize that having support is paramount to their success.

It’s the reason why I designed my on-line course, Mindful Tools for Organized Living. – to give people an on-going resource of support.

Listen, whether you’re trying to figure out how to declutter and let go of your things, or organize and find homes for your stuff, there are strategies that can help you resolve your clutter much easier and faster. If you’re struggling, it’s because you’re doing it the hard way.

Perhaps it’s time for you to commit to resolving your clutter, once and for all.
